A public hearing is planned on May 24 for rezoning applications for an apartment building planned for 12th Street near 35th Avenue in Ravenswood and the Variety Boys and Girls Club mixed-use redevelopment on 21st Street.
The Community Board 1 notice for the hearing involves an application for “an eight-story, mixed-use building at 11-14 35th Avenue,” across from the NYCHA Ravenswood Houses and around the block from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The building would have 74 apartments with 22 labelled affordable.
In the other application, the Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens is planning to erect a condo tower and a community space at its current address, 21-12 30th Road. Above is a blueprint rendering reported by New York YIMBY, below is a Google Maps screen-grab of the existing building. The residential tower would rise 14 floors, the community center next to it a still substantial six floors. Looks like the community center part will have a playground on top of it.
The hearing will be at the Ravenswood Community Center at 6:30 pm, Thursday, May 24.
